We both lived at home and had some health issues. After Francis fell, we lived at two other facilities before coming to White Oaks. We’ve lived here over 2 years, and it’s cleaner here. We love the arts and crafts and the activities. The place is nice, the aides are nice. They are all a #10. We all live here; you make it your home.

– Sisters Francis N. and Charlotte M., Long-Term Residents, with Recreation

Recreation

The goal of our Recreation Department is to improve the quality of life, cognitive function, physical function and socialization for our residents. Our specialized staff also utilizes a variety of activities that enable those with a decreased ability to participate and communicate.

Our Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialists, staff and trained aides work together with the resident, families and interdisciplinary team to tailor programs to the likes of each resident that make their days more rewarding and fulfilling.

A large variety of activities are scheduled throughout the day that provides something for everyone to get involved. Special events are planned that are enjoyed by residents including:

  • BBQ’s
  • Live Entertainment
  • Music in the afternoons
  • Parties & Celebrations – for example, special holiday events, 50’s day, fiesta day, and even a senior prom!
  • Wireless Internet
  • Satellite T.V.
  • Movie Nights
  • Beauty Parlor Service
  • and Much more!

At White Oaks we encourage staff and family participation in all activities, especially Halloween, a facility favorite, Sunday Socials and all Holiday events. Our Recreation Staff also coordinates in-facility shopping experiences and out of facility trips to restaurants and more. Our Silver Linings Club engages our very alert residents with activities including a book club, and our Pet Therapy program encourages plenty of smiles.

As White Oaks is a non-denominational facility, our Recreation team provides opportunities that meet the spiritual and religious needs of our residents. Religious holidays are observed throughout the year and services are offered regularly on the premises. Clergy are also available for individual counseling with residents upon request.
